In 2025, the Rotary Club of St. Marys launched the Mugoiri School - Kenya – 2025 Project, beginning a hands-on partnership with Mugoiri Secondary School focused on practical, sustainable improvements.
Club members travelled to Kenya to support critical infrastructure upgrades, including proper washroom facilities and hygiene initiatives — laying the foundation for a long-term relationship.

In 2026, the partnership continues with the Mugoiri School - Kenya – 2026 Project.
This year’s priorities include:
- Expanding student access to computers and developing digital literacy skills
- Providing sewing machines to support feminine hygiene and self-sufficiency initiatives
- Renovating additional classrooms to improve learning spaces
- Renovating the school kitchen, where daily meals are prepared for students
- Establishing a Field to Fork program to help the school grow more of its own food, give students practical experience in sustainable agriculture, and contribute to the daily meals served at the school
These initiatives build directly on the progress achieved in 2025 and reflect needs identified in collaboration with school leadership.
A Rotary visit to Mugoiri Secondary School is planned for late February and early March 2027. As with previous years, Rotarians participating in the visit will do so at their own expense.
